Art submission and the custom order set up process
Customer art can be handled by HIX in a number of ways. Traditional
art such as drawings or printed copy can be mailed or faxed in. In such
cases black and white illustrations work best. Electronic art files can
be emailed to our web address but must meet the art requirements as they
are defined in our art standards section.
Once
HIX receives the art, the sales department will generate a quote for
quantity, color and price. |
Traditional
art such as logos or type graphics that are mailed or faxed to HIX
must first be scanned into our design programs. The scan turns the
art into a bitmap which is named and then saved as an art file. |
The
same art is then changed from the bitmap to a vector (line art) file
that the artist can edit and modify to work with the screen printing
process. |
We
then create a layout of "ganged" artwork, which means you
might get 6,8,12 or 50 designs on a 10" x 12" layout sheet
(working space 9"x11"). Large format sheets are 20"x24"
(work area 19"x23"). We gang the art work because we sell
designs by the sheet not the piece. We also provide adequate spacing
between designs for easy cutting. |
HIX
will fax or email you the finished artwork and layout for your inspection.
You then simply fax or email your approval to begin the production
process. After we receive your approval, we print out the art layout
on a vellum we then use this art to expose our screen emulsion and
generate the prints. |
Note: Size, colors, type, design elements
are things that need to be considered in producing creative designs.
If these things are not listed in the customer specifications, these
decisions will be made by the art staff.
